Shatnez Labs International

Shatnez is a mixture of wool and linen. The Torah forbids Jews to wear shatnez, as it says in Leviticus 19:19, "... a garment of shatnez shall not come upon you," and Deuteronomy 22:11, "You shall not wear shatnez, wool and linen together." Shatnez is common even in garments labeled 100% wool, linen, or synthetic.

What items need checking?

Check the Label

Ideally a garment should be checked if it contains wool, flax/linen, "Other Fibers" (O.F.) or "Mixed Fibers" (M.F.), or linen-look fabric. Textured garments with irregular, uneven fibers and white dots or streaks are also at risk.

Beyond the Label

All men's suits and jackets (even 100% synthetic) must be inspected because of the many internal components which could contain both wool and linen.
